An investigation of hot gas ingestion driven by the disc pumping effect in a chute seal was conducted at Oxford Rotor Facility. Measurements mean pressure, unsteady pressure and concentration have been logged analysed under different operating conditions. The sensitivity cavity coefficient, frequency spectra pressures sealing effectiveness to changing conditions purge flow, annulus rotor speed clearance studied. steady revealed development two vortices cavity, induced sharp change geometry stator wall. increased shear interface between these strengthened activity this location. addition mainstream flow improved capability certain excitation further frequencies when an axisymmetric introduced suggests complex interaction flows.
